Mechanized Pulse Echo

We offer the following techniques to our customers:

  1. Angle beam mechanized shear wave.  Code compliant AWS, ASME.
  2. Straight beam mechanized.  For erosion corrosion three-dimensional mapping.

Flange Seal Inspection

NQS has obtained a method to quantify degradation of flange connections prior to leakage and without opening the flanged connection.

Time of Flight Diffraction

  • Because no ionizing radiation is used, the inspection does not interfere with the production process. TOFD can therefore be executed during the day shift.    There is no need to transfer components to the designated X-Ray area.
  • Associated logistic problems and cost do not exist.

  • Thickness variations do not greatly affect the inspection speed. Also very thick materials can be examined in the same efficient manner.

  • The TOFD data is very accurate and is presented in an easily understood format. All data is stored for future reference, such that any differences between the situation after a period in service and the production situation can be easily established. The data can be utilized to for the basis for life time and inspection interval extension.

  • Improved inspection sensitivity due to the insensitivity to defect orientation.

  • Proof of coverage by means of encoded positioning.

Video Imaging

NQS utilizes the BTX-QL (Quick Look) AC/DC system.  It has recording capabilities and utilizes centering devices for diameters ranges 4" - 6" and 8" - 12".

Hardness Testing

Equotip:  The hardness measurement carried out with the portable Equotip hardness tester is a dynamic method predicated upon the principle of energy measurement.  This method is used to determine the hardness values of steel and cast steel materials.  The extent of testing shall be defined per customer specification.

Telebrineller:  The "Telebrineller" instrument for measuring Brinell hardness is a portable instrument, which uses standardized metal bars of known hardness values as a comparison to the hardness of the specimen under examination.  A telebrineller microscope containing measuring reticula is used to make comparison measurements between the diameter of the impression on the bar and the diameter of the impression on the specimen.  This procedure is defined in NQS-HE6001 Rev 0.
